Hi everyone! I’m Roxy – the founder of TextMyJournal. It was my crazy idea that started this project over a year ago. (This is the most recent picture of me without a crazy goofy smile trying to entertain my 3-year-old…)
Recently, I had someone look me square in the eye and ask me if I used TextMyJournal like I hope others will.
I sure do.
I’m a little unconventional about it – I use a Google Voice number since I’m usually near my computer when I want my text prompts to come. However, I’ve got that number connected to my cell, so I can text from anywhere.
And I love it.
I find myself texting about little moments I don’t want to forget, steps along this entrepreneurial journey, beautiful moments of my day, hilarious things my kid did, frustrations, things I’m grateful for…. It’s been amazing to see how even just one or two sentences clears my brain.
I love that I keep a journal again. I’ve never been good at keeping a journal. In fact, there is only one year of my life I journaled every day – the year I lived overseas. It was a good year to journal. At some point in my life I hope to type it all out and include pictures with the text. That’s one thing I’ve loved about TextMyJournal – the pictures are attached. That would have changed how I documented my whole year… and it’s changing how I document my current life.
Drop a line and let me know how you journal. I’d love to learn more about you!
It’s nice to meet you. Happy journaling!
~Roxy

PS: There are some changes on deck for TMJ. I’m hoping to categorize the journal prompts – if you’re an entrepreneur you shouldn’t be getting texts asking what funny thing your kid did that day, and if you’re in high school you probably don’t care about prompts geared towards travelers. I’m also really excited about some possibilities we’re exploring to get your journals into a hard copy.
